The Challenge
The Australian team delivered about 50,000 emails in July across several industrial brands and product categories. The aggregate open rate was 17.3% and click-to-open rate was about 4%. Campaigns were already separated by industry, but contacts could still overlap between brands and broad sectors. That created fatigue risk and made it difficult to understand which audience-message combination was working.
What I Did
I designed a deeper segmentation model inside HubSpot. Industry remained the first layer, but job title, previous purchase, product category and business unit became additional filters. I paired this with a campaign calendar and reporting view so the team could see who had been contacted, how often, with which message and what happened next.
The Result
The work replaced a broad industry-send mindset with a repeatable account and role-based operating model. It gave the coordinator clear rules for building lists, reduced the risk of duplicate contact and created a better foundation for measuring response by niche. The July baseline also gave the team a defined point against which future segmentation improvements could be judged.
