Rebuilding a Multi-Site Website Theme Without Losing Control

The challenge was not designing one attractive site. It was making a shared theme dependable across regions, products and conversion paths.

The Challenge

The legacy website theme created friction around quote functionality, inconsistent layouts and regional updates. The manufacturer needed a cleaner global design that could support product pages, industry journeys, search, forms, e-commerce and local requirements without every market becoming a separate development project.

What I Did

I directed the web team through a reusable version-three theme and a staged release process. We defined common headers, footers, navigation, templates and conversion components, then tracked every element in SmartSheet. Australia and the United States became early test environments, while regional staging areas allowed issues to be resolved before broader deployment.

How I Did It

  • 01: Converted the theme into a checklist of global elements and page templates.
  • 02: Used staging environments and explicit review states for testing, approval and blockers.
  • 03: Kept global visual consistency while allowing local teams to change product and industry ordering.
  • 04: Coordinated server hygiene, search behaviour, responsive checks and quote-function compatibility as part of release readiness.

The Result

By the end of the supplied meeting period, the theme was reported as approximately 90% to 95% complete and entering final testing. The business had a controlled route for launching the theme on core access sites, monitoring it with international teams and only then extending it to other brands. The result was a reusable web platform with clearer ownership and fewer uncontrolled regional variations.

Why It Matters

I bridge marketing, UX and development so a website programme remains commercially useful after the design is approved.
