Case 13 / Strategic delivery

Repositioning a Modular Stair Product as a Supported System

When a strong product is compared one-for-one with a cheaper alternative, the marketing problem is often the frame, not the feature list.

The Challenge

The modular stair product was facing increasing price pressure from lower-cost alternatives. The product had a broad range, accessories, engineering evidence and years of application knowledge, but buyers could still reduce the comparison to one stair and one price. That made the manufacturer's wider value hard to see.

What I Did

I reframed the offer as the modular stair access system and connected it to a visible manufacturer support package. The campaign architecture moved from generic product claims to application-led configurations, adaptability, technical substantiation, selection support, deployment guidance and lifecycle service. I also defined how sales and marketing would explain the shift without inventing substantial new operational promises.

How I Did It

  • 01: Mapped the range by changing worksite problem and application rather than product size alone.
  • 02: Converted existing engineering, documentation and support into a named service proposition.
  • 03: Built campaign measures around system enquiries, lead-magnet use, MQL-to-deal progression and deal-value return.
  • 04: Planned search, display, LinkedIn, Meta, EDM, landing-page and brochure activity around the same positioning.

The Result

The engagement produced an approved strategic pivot, a system narrative, a supporting service framework and a multi-channel campaign direction. The manufacturer could now compete on configuration depth, evidence and manufacturer support rather than allowing the market to set a one-dimensional price comparison. The result was a clearer commercial moat and a stronger brief for sales enablement and new collateral.

Why It Matters

I help technically strong businesses package the value they already deliver so the market can understand why it matters.

If buyers are commoditising a complex offer, I can rebuild the positioning around the system, service and evidence that competitors cannot easily copy.
